Patness
Patness is The Patrick Downey Foundation
PAT-ness (adj.):
The unexplained quality that gives someone the ability to make an awesome first impression. Example: “When I first saw him, with his Elvis hair and wearing his white fleece pullover with the collar up I thought, ‘That can’t be an accident.’ His Patness was tangible.”
This foundation has been established to help raise awareness about esophageal cancer. But it has also been established to keep Patrick’s spirit alive.
By remembering Patrick’s rare and wonderful spirit we can help to educate people about the awful disease that took his life.
Do you know some of the common symptoms of esophageal cancer? Here are some:
- Difficult or painful swallowing
- Weight loss
- Blood in the stool
- Loss of appetite
- Feeling very tired
- Heartburn (GERD)
- Pain in the throat or back
- Hoarseness or coughing
If you know someone who has any of these unexplained symptoms or if you have them yourself, it’s time to visit the doctor.
Let’s all celebrate Patrick’s life by helping to educate someone about esophageal cancer. And we should do it wearing flannel shirts, Chucks and embracing our Patness.
