The Cause

The goal of the Patrick Downey Foundation is to increase awareness and provide education about esophageal cancer.  This is one of the unknown and deadly cancers out there but it affects the lives of tens of thousands of people.  Our mission is to help break down the barriers and provide much needed information about this awful disease and offer resources for patients, caregivers and survivors.

And how will we achieve this?

First of all, your donations will help to provide funding to other fantastic organizations like the Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association (ECAA) and the DeGregorio Family Foundation (DFF). These are organizations that I’m sure Patrick himself would’ve been grateful for – ECAA provides a wealth of information and resources to help patients get through this disease and DFF  directly funds research for esophageal and gastric cancers.  In the past, we raised awareness is through the Annual Patrick Downey 5K, held in Peabody, Massachusetts on Mother’s Day. We were able to give over $30,000 to ECAA through the PD5K.
